Host leading a live virtual after-school club with children on a video call

Afternoons are trickier than ever

1

Home doesn't always mean available, and that's okay.

A parent might be wrapping up a work call in the next room, finishing an email, or just catching their breath after a long day. Being nearby doesn't mean being free, and kids deserve something engaging to fill that gap, so everyone gets a little more ease in the transition from “home” to “together.”

2

By 3pm, kids are running on empty.

School asks a lot of them: hours of sitting still, following instructions, and staying “on.” By the time the day winds down, what they need isn't more structure or another lesson. It's a different kind of engagement, something that feels like a break, not an extension of the classroom.

3

The gap gets swallowed by unproductive screen time

Left unfilled, that hour defaults to a screen (YouTube, TikTok, gaming) with nothing gained beyond killed time.

Clubs built around what kids want to do.

Small groups, live on video, with hosts who know how to keep kids engaged. The subjects are the fun part. The skills come along with them.

Build a gaming system

Design levels and rules, then play them together.

Creative Arts

Digital making and ideas to explore in exciting ways.

Space and Technology

Planets, rockets and how everyday tech works.

Wellbeing and Mindfulness

Calmer tools for after a long school day.

Sport Quiz

Fast quizzes for kids who love sport.

Small group virtual clubs with topics that go beyond the curriculum

HQ You runs virtual after-school clubs for children aged 7-11 (Key Stage 2) covering the subjects school doesn't have room for, but kids need to grow. Topics chosen to help kids explore, evolve and grow beyond the classroom: the kind of learning that shapes who they become, not just what they know.

What we are

Live small group clubs, joined from home with an experienced, exciting host. Nothing pre-recorded, nothing generic. This isn't homework club or catch-up. It's an hour between school and dinner kids actually look forward to. They explore beyond the curriculum.

Why we started

HQ You started with a parent's ambition. Katy O'Neill wanted her kids to grow the skills that set them up for real life: the confidence, creativity and know-how that come from doing, trying and exploring beyond the classroom. She just couldn't find a way to add it in without another drop off and pick up, wedged into the chaos between work and dinner. So she stopped searching for the answer and built it instead.
